Case Study – Funeral Live Streaming at St Mark's Church, Tunbridge Wells

Venue: St Mark's Church, Broadwater Down, Tunbridge Wells, Kent TN2 5LU

Date: 20 October 2026

Funeral service: 10:30 am

Church access: From 9:00 am

Services provided: Single-camera funeral live streaming and professional video recording

The Challenge – A Restricted Setup Window

Funeral Audio Visual was commissioned to provide professional funeral live streaming and recording at St Mark's Church in Broadwater Down, Tunbridge Wells.

The funeral service was scheduled for 10:30 am, but access to the church was only available from 9:00 am.

For our usual two-camera funeral streaming setup, we prefer to have approximately two and a half hours before the service. This allows sufficient time to position cameras, prepare audio equipment, establish internet connectivity and complete our technical checks.

On this occasion, although there were 90 minutes between gaining access and the start of the funeral, our practical setup window was just over an hour, as everything needed to be ready before mourners began arriving.

Our Solution – Adapting to a Single-Camera Setup

Rather than attempting to rush our normal two-camera installation, we made the decision to simplify the setup and provide a professional single-camera live stream and recording.

This allowed us to concentrate on the essentials: a carefully positioned camera, clear audio, reliable internet connectivity and sufficient time to test the equipment.

A single-camera setup can be particularly effective when access to a church is restricted, providing professional coverage while reducing the amount of equipment and installation time required.

Our approach is always to select the most suitable equipment for the venue and circumstances, rather than insisting on the same setup for every funeral.

Professional Streaming and Recording

Our responsibility at St Mark's Church was to make the funeral service available to relatives and friends unable to attend in person, while also providing a professional video recording for the family.

We travel with six bonded 4G/5G mobile connections and Starlink satellite internet equipment, giving us multiple connectivity options when working at churches and venues throughout the UK.

Our equipment is designed to be discreet, allowing us to work respectfully around the church, clergy, funeral director and mourners.

Why Experience and Flexibility Matter

With more than 2,500 funerals and memorial services filmed and streamed since 2017, we understand that every venue presents different requirements.

Sometimes the challenge is internet connectivity. On other occasions, it may be the size of the building, available camera positions or restricted access times.

At St Mark's Church, the key consideration was the limited time available to prepare.

By adapting from our usual two-camera arrangement to a simpler single-camera setup, we were able to work within the church's access restrictions while maintaining a professional approach to filming and recording.
